Colloquial expressions

I have just received a communication from my student and friend David Díaz de Quijano where he uses expressions like "to be in the loop", "to see what's cooking" which are the mark of someone who has gotten a command of the English language unusual in Spain. If someone can get a good grip on the language, so can you. So, keep on trucking and don't give up, dear reader, whoever you are.
