ONLY y su posición en la frase

ONLY. Sólo. No confundir con alone, solo, sin acento. (Digan lo que digan las Academias.)

Hay que colocar este only en el lugar apropiado para evitar ambigüedades, justo delante de la palabra que queremos resaltar. Si no hacemos esto no nos entenderán bien. Por ejemplo:

Only the teacher says that he saw the accident (El professor y nadie más)

The teacher only says that he saw the accident (Simplemente afirma)

The teacher says only that he saw the accident (Y no dice otra cosa)

The teacher says that he only saw the accident (Vio pero no oyó, fue testigo)

The teacher says that he saw only the accident (Y ninguna otra cosa más)
