da dos consejos interesantes sobre el adverbio: "The
road to hell is
paved with adverbs." Y "The adverb is not your friend." Más claro,
imposible.
El adverbio es el
adjetivo del verbo, y modifica verbos, adjetivos u otros
adverbios. Nos
explica cómo alguien hace algo. Regresaremos pronto. Comes demasiado deprisa. Es excesivamente locuaz.
Los adverbios
terminados en –mente terminan en –ly en inglés: effectively, quickly, carefully, easily, happily, firmly, safely, badly. The team played badly. She walks carefully. Peter
closed the door firmly. This can be done easily.
Otros adverbios
son: very,
fast, hard, well, rather, quite, often, sometimes,now, today, here. She speaks
English well. I often sleep in class. I will do it now.
Es mejor emplear
el verbo apropiado en vez de intentar modificar el verbo inapropiado: He closed the
door firmly es peor que he banged
the door.
She knocked lightly on the door se puede expresar mejor con she tapped
on the
door.
