LAS LENGUAS INGLESA Y ESPAÑOLA de Delfín Carbonell

 In my recent book ESCRIBIR Y COMUNICAR EN INGLÉS (Anaya, 2016), written in both English and Spanish, I suggest many things. For example: • Do not text because you are bored. Your messages should have relevance. • Type short and very clear sentences. • Do not forget the subject+verb+object structure. • Remember that people's time is short and valuable. • Emoticons imitate the Egyptian way of writing, but are often confusing and unclear as to what you mean. Use them sparingly. • The four recomendations above may be hard to accomplish; still I think we must try, especially because on the internet nothing disappears. Everything is always there, even after being erased. So, let us be careful.

En la práctica real de hoy podríamos decir "todos" o, para ser más cautos "casi todos" los nombres pueden convertirse en verbos. Podemos convertir un nombre en verbo y quedarnos más anchos que largos. Y no pasa nada. La tendencia actual del "todo vale" minimiza las posibilidades de cometer errores y aumenta las de la comprensión. Por ejemplo: text es texto, y ahora to text es escribir un texto, un mensaje, especialmente en un móvil: Text me his phone number, Mándame un mensaje con su número de teléfono. Parent , padre, madre, to parent hacer de padre o madre. Gift, regalo, to gift, regalar, paper, papel, to paper, empapelar. Acaba de aparecer la nueva palabra " sexting ", combinación de " texting " y " sex ", mandar correos sexuales, guarreras, por móvil. Práctica peligrosa, especialmente para los casados. House / to house, albergar, alojar Flower / to flower, florecer Cover  / to cover, cubrir Fool / to fool, ...
