LAS LENGUAS INGLESA Y ESPAÑOLA de Delfín Carbonell

I have sent off the finished MS of the third and last volume of my Literatura en lengua inglesa III , which covers Sinclair Lewis to J. K. Rowling, and deals with 72 authors who have used the English language to produce their literary work. Written in Spanish, it has extensive quotations in English. It reflects my literary journey since boyhood and my reaction to my readings, both at the university and on my own, as a teacher. In a few months, the book will be available. I will correct two sets of galley proofs and possibly make minor changes. 

  Lo placentero no es tanto haber escrito un libro como el proceso mismo de escribirlo . Componer, dar forma, bucear en las ideas, perseguir intuiciones. Hay un gozo profundo —creativo, silencioso— en la construcción paciente de un texto. Uno escribe por necesidad interior, por disciplina, por amor a las palabras, pero también por ese propósito que se va dibujando mientras se escribe. Y, sin embargo, al terminar un libro, sobreviene lo que ya conozco bien. Como digo al final de este segundo volumen: "the same old sadness returns -unannounced, quiet- settling in, as it always does, when I finish a book and I write... The End." Publicar también tiene su parte de alegría. Es el momento de ofrecer el esfuerzo a los demás. El acto de compartir lo escrito, de abrirle la puerta al lector, trae consigo una satisfacción tranquila, de fait accompli .
