Llamo traducción exprés a la que se hace de manera alocada, sin reflexión, al momento y de manera aleatoria. Se suele encomendar a alguien que ha visitado Inglaterra “un mes”, o que ha estudiado el idioma inglés, o que es “bilingüe”. La última traducción alocada viene a cuento porque Donald Trump ha nombrado al general James Mattis , Ministro de Defensa ( Defence Secretary ). El general tiene varios apodos, y uno de ellos es el de “mad dog” que los traductores exprés han volcado al castellano como “perro loco”, en vez de “perro rabioso”. Parece ser que en la cultura de los marines (infantes de marina) “mad dog” es un remoquete altamente apreciado y que es casi un piropo, para una persona rabiosamente audaz, sin miedo y que va a por todas. Mad dog es un perro rabioso, que tiene la rabia, una enfermedad. Esto de los idiomas paralelos es tan complicado que nos debe mantener alerta siempre y no dar nada por supuesto ni por hecho. Hasta los préstamos del latín difieren. Por ejemplo: En inglés hablamos del status quo : He does not want to change the status quo. En castellano y en el Diccionario de la Real Academia Española, esa frase aparece como statu quo : No quiere cambiar el statu quo.  Parecen pequeñeces, pero son cuestiones de gran relevancia. No bajemos la guardia nunca. 

 In my recent book ESCRIBIR Y COMUNICAR EN INGLÉS (Anaya, 2016), written in both English and Spanish, I suggest many things. For example: • Do not text because you are bored. Your messages should have relevance. • Type short and very clear sentences. • Do not forget the subject+verb+object structure. • Remember that people's time is short and valuable. • Emoticons imitate the Egyptian way of writing, but are often confusing and unclear as to what you mean. Use them sparingly. • The four recomendations above may be hard to accomplish; still I think we must try, especially because on the internet nothing disappears. Everything is always there, even after being erased. So, let us be careful.
