LIVE FAR

Far or near are relative terms. Far or near from where or what? Yet we use both terms often, especially when referring to people who dwell a few miles from us. Both Spanish and English have colorful expressions to express the idea of being "far" from where we are or live. Let´s look at some such expressions:

Vivir en el quinto pino (quinto infierno, donde Cristo dio las tres voces, en el culo del mundo, en medio de la nada, en la Conchinchina) Live in the back of beyond (out in the sticks, in the boonies, in the middle of nowhere)

David se ha mudado y ahora vive en el quinto pino, a cinco horas de aquí David has moved and now lives out in the sticks
