FIRST NAME

Paul, Nancy, Robert… son first names. También Christian names or given names. Naturalmente si la persona se llama Mohammed, sera major no hablarle de Christian name. A veces todavía se oye font name, nombre de pila.
To be on a first-name basis con alguien es el equivalente a tutear: “They are now on a first-name basis with the librarians here…” Windsor Beacon, 14 May, 2010, que significa que ahora se tutean con los bibliotecarios. “He was friendly and seemed to genuinely care about his customers and know many of them on a first-name basis.” Enterprise Record, 14 May, 2010, o sea, que se tutea con su clientela.
