MUSIC TO MY EARS IN SPANISH

In matters linguistic, I always have my eyes peeled and my ears pricked, to grasp the language flowing by me.  Of late, I have heard "es música para mis oídos" several times which sounds strange to me, and a copy of the English "music to my ears." CREA and CORDE only register one instance, by the Argentinian, with an English-sounding name William Shand, in his Farsa con rebelde (1981): "Sus órdenes son una música para mis oídos." "Música celestial" is the proper equivalent of the English "music to my ears." The question that torments me is why, why import expressions that Spanish already has? May I venture to suggest that some native Spanish speakers have a poor knowledge of their own language?
