THE BIBLE AS A SOURCE OF SAYINGS

In later posts, we will mention the Bible as a source of idiomatic expressions and sayings, popular in English and Spanish. Today let me write about a less-known saying from James (Santiago) 1: 2-3: "My brethren count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations." (King James Bible), in Reina- Valera in Spanish we read: "Cinsidérense muy dichosos cuando estén pasando por diversas pruebas." Count it all for joy", "dar gracias a Dios por; considerarse uno dichoso." We must count it all for joy we are in good health and war-free. Tenemos que dar gracias a Dios que no nos falta nada.
