FILM TITLES AND THEIR SPANISH TRANSLATIONS

Let's avoid getting into the quagmire of Spanish translations of English-language films today and just mention titles. The hilarious comedy Some Like it Hot, with Jack Lemon, was given in Spanish as Con faldas y a lo loco. The word hot here would be difficult to render in Spanish, but perhaps a more suitable title could have been found. Gone With the Wind ended up as Lo que el viento se llevó which is not bad. How about Die Hard with Willys? La jungla de cristal, no less. I cannot figure out why. A favorite of mine, The Sound of Music, ended up as Sonrisas y lágrimas in Spain and as La novia rebelde in some countries south of the border. Both renderings are unsatisfactory.
