El "tea" y sus frases

Por nada del mundo, decimos en inglés not for all the tea in China. The Oxford English Dictionary tiene una citación que dice: “I’m not going to stand in my girl’s light for all the tea in China.”

Y hablando de té, cuando algo no nos gusta empleamos la expresión: it/he/she is not my cup of tea. También se dice dish of tea. Por cierto que como todo cambia el five-o’clock tea pasó a mejor vida. Y también es sabido que a los ingleses lo que les gusta beber es el whiskey, no el tea. Por eso llevan la cara tan ruddy siempre.

En el Reino Unido tea is a cooked evening meal, una cena.
