SELL LIKE HOT CAKES

We all know people like to eat, in fact, and so much so, that they eat more than they should for their own good. At church fairs and meetings in the United States, at "verbenas" in Spain, folks of all ages gather to fill their stomachs. Pancakes and hot cakes have always been favorites and here enters the expression "to sell like hot cakes", which means selling well and fast. At Spanish "verbenas" we encounter the well-known "churros", the fried dough that delights the palate of the masses and has given rise to the "venderse como churros."  My books do not sell like hot cakes, unfortunately, "ni siquiera como churros." And by the way, the Mexican version of the "churro" is not the same as the "madrileño" original.
