INSULTS BY PROXY: PARENTS IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH PHRASEOLOGY
I am not much given to using four-letter words or gross insults, but I am clearly in the minority. This is neither the place nor the time to explore why insults and put-downs are so prevalent in language. Today, I simply want to introduce a set of Spanish phraseological expressions that insult by invoking either one’s father or mother, alongside their English counterparts.
