JUNTA Y SU PRONUNCIACIÓN INGLÉSA

El inglés tiene la manga mucho más ancha que el castellano, con su manía de rechazar anglicismos y galicismos o, por lo menos, intentarlo. Me topo con la palabra "junta" en el NYT, que mi RH Dictionary, define como "a small group ruling a country, esp. immediately after a coup d'état and before a legally constituted government has been instituted." Lo interesante también es su pronunciación, que el diccionario explica como:  "When the word JUNTA was borrowed into English from Spanish in the early 17th century, its pronunciation was thoroughly Anglicized to (junÆtÃ). The 20th century has seen the emergence and, especially in North America, the gradual predominance of the pronunciation (hÂnÆtÃ), derived from Spanish (hÁnÆtä) through reassociation with the word's Spanish origins." No sólo se incorpora la palabra al inglés sino también su pronunciación, y se dota a la "j" con un sonido inexistente en esa lengua. Y luego decimos que los norteamericanos nos tienen tirria. Claro que, ahora que lo pienso, también tienen el Gila monster, con su pronunciación hispánica.
