COMO DIOS MANDA

"Como referencia a las cosas que se hacen bien" is the definition given by María Moliner Dictionary to "como Dios manda."  To do things well, the way God commands us to accomplish our tasks. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. The French have "comme il faut," which has the same meaning. "Faire les choses comme il faut." "Hacer las cosas como Dios manda." And how about English? We do things "by the book," following the rules, implying strict adherence to regulations and established methods, properly. Which one do you prefer? Take your pick.

Hacer las cosas como Dios manda.
Faire les choses comme il faut.
Do things by the book.
