PERDER EL OREMUS

 

Perder el oremus, fly off the handle, lose one’s head (temper, cool, bearings, rag), lose it, blow one’s top, work oneself into a lather, is a phrase I have learnt in Spanish recently. I never stop adding new vocabulary and phraseology to my Spanish and English. I had never heard the expression until recently and have added it to my dictionary. It is used frequently, and here are the following citations to prove it:
