LIE, LAY, EXPLAINED AGAIN


 

"LIE" is an intransitive verb and has no direct object: "We lie down after lunch."

"LAY" is a transitive verb and has a direct object: "I lay the table for supper every evening. "

Lie, lay,  lain,  lying.

Lay, laid, laying.
