SINEW
I know the word sinew from the dictum "money is the sinews of war," (el dinero es el nervio de la guerra), meaning that the wherewithal is what supports war and is essential for conducting warfare. My Random House Dictionary defines it as 1. Tendon. 2. Often sinews, the source of strength, power, or vigour. 3. Strength, power, resilience. May I add grit, purpose, willpower, strength, and vigour?

Why not use this word more often?
