Comparative phraseology allows us to observe that what we are seeking is meaning. The idea that an occurrence is going to take place no matter what unless a miracle happens or God intercedes is expressed in these two examples in English and Spanish:
Unless a miracle happens Si Dios no lo remedia
Unless a miracle happens, I’ll lose my job soon Si Dios no lo remedia, perderé el empleo pronto
“There’s doom ahead, unless a miracle happens.” Interest.com.nz., July 22, 2023. N. Zeal.
Si Dios no lo remedia Unless a miracle happens
Si Dios no
lo remedia, perderé el empleo pronto Unless a
miracle happens, I’ll lose my job soon
“… allí seguirá, si Dios no
lo remedia.” El País, 01/08/1976. Esp. || “… porque si Dios no lo remedia, nos
espera más de lo mismo.” La Voz de la Afición, nº 19, 05/2007. Esp.
