IN THE CROSSHAIRS

I often feel targeted by the powers that be, both terrestrial and emotional, as Wilhelm Reich would have put it: the Emotional Plague. I may have a persecution complex, I admit. I feel watched, stalked, haunted. In Spanish, I can say que estoy en el punto de mira de algo o alguien, and I feel there is a pending attack in the shadows, lurking. The expression that springs to my mind in English is to be in the crosshairs of someone. I am being melodramatic, of course, but both expressions: estar en el punto de mira and to be in the crosshairs are worth being a bit Lovecraft-like, to impress the reader. Then: Estar en el punto de mira de algo o alguien, to be in the crosshairs of something or someone
